Basement Toilets

When you think of having a finished basement in your home you need to give consideration to every aspect of what you want your basement to be like and one of the considerations are bathroom toilets. There are specially made toilets on the market that are designed for basements. Your first priority is to have your plumbing done first and to make sure there is no chance of it leaking. This is usually done before your floor is cemented. It is of utmost importance to make sure that everything you install for your toilet is sealed to prevent leakage. If there is leakage from your toilet it can cause big problems in the future, but the toilet is just one of the things you have to plan before starting your basement.

When doing a basement you also have to plan for your stairs. Professionals suggest that you should open up a stairwell and install a banister and this is due to the stairs being enclosed. If you open the stairwell to your basement then you lose some of the basement like atmosphere. There are some things you can do to fancy them up such as widening the door to the basement and add some arches and columns to dress them up and give them a unique appearance. If you want more privacy, add French doors to the entrance to your basement or a partial decorative glass separator which not only adds more privacy but also looks very elegant.

When it comes to widows for your basement it is a standard rule that the more windows you have the better. Basements tend to be dark and gloomy and this is one way to give your basement an airy, light feeling. The more natural light that can come in the better your basement will be. If you find that windows are very limited then you can look into using glass block windows.
