Log Home Kits

Are you looking for an easy way to get the log cabin of your dreams? Why not take a look at the different designs of log home kits that are available? Most retailers that sell these kits actually sell you the logs and materials you need to build your own cabin. All you have to do is bring in your plan and the retailer will give you a free estimate of how much the materials will cost. If you are not sure of what type of plan you want, you can also purchase the plans at the same location.

There are also kits that include everything you need to build the cabin from start to finish. You can use any type of wood suitable for log cabins, such as pine, red or white cedar, spruce or fir. The posts and beams are available in the same type of wood. Even the windows, doors, interior beams and river rock are included depending on the type of plan you choose.

Even when you buy a kit for your log home, you have several different options:
* Size of logs
* Shape of logs
* Species of logs
* Corner styles
* Energy efficiency
You can choose a huge 16-inch had-hewn log to the smaller 4-inch machined logs. You can also choose a style and finish that suits your individual taste.

Some of the log shapes could be "married" which means that they meet at the corners. The large size logs are notched at the ends giving you the X shape common to log homes. Then again, you can choose the square edges with a dovetail join. You do have to choose a certain corner style as they are not interchangeable.
